Matthew Stewart

Matt Stewart has spent over 30 years as a professional theatre practitioner and actor. He was the General Manager and co-founder of Darlinghurst Theatre Company until 2004 which he co-founded in 1992. He was also a founding member and regular performer of Milk Crate Theatre for the homeless. He has since adapted the forum style of theatre for Access Week, Youth at Risk, YWCA Canberra, Hornsby Council, Mind Blank Inc and currently works as coordinator for the Theatrical Response Group for Constable Care WA.

Matt’s most recent theatrical performances have included roles in “Hamlet” for Sydney Shakespeare Co 2016, “Tiger Country” and “Where’s My Money” for Little Spoon Theatre Co 2014, “The Dog Logs” (stories told by dogs) and “Six Pack” at the Childers Street Theatre Canberra, as Benedick in “Much Ado about Nothing” for the 2008 Sydney Shakespeare Festival.

He has made many appearance in Australian TV series, Children’s shows, TVCs and short films.

As a songwriter Matt is the recipient of an honours award in the John Lenin Song writing contest, and won the American Internet Children’s award for best album 3 to 5 year olds with co-writer Scott Bennett.

Matt is the founder and director of "Act Corporate Drama Training", using acting techniques for body language, presentation and interpersonal skills in the workplace.
