Makwaya actually decided a long time ago to become an actor. When he was younger he was on stage performing poetry. His mum had just given birth to his sister, she was sick and in hospital. Whilst he was at the performance a friend of the family who lived in the refugee camp with them (Kakuma, Kenya) told him that his baby sister had passed away. Makwaya was filled with emotion but he felt that there was little he could do, she had passed, his mother would be grieving. He took all the emotion and finished his performance. He felt great emotion in his performance, he saw the reaction he provoked, it meant something to those watching. He felt some sort of blessing. His little sister had passed but she had life, as short as it was. That realization was in his performance and still is in his performances to this day.
